Buisness Planning

Buisness Analysis

The business i am analysing is Yellow Korner, this buisness is based on maximising there customers at a minimum cost per print, so printing larger numbers equals same profits as more expensive in prints small numbers. Which i think its a superb concept it opens art to the masses at afffordable prices, I think having website and gallerys were you can walk in and buy the print and actually have a look at it in front of you is brilliant , but then again they have a wider audience on the interenet because even if your a person who loves photography and dont have very much money there are the smaller images available so anyone can have limited edition prints at affordable cost anywere in the world. The importance of having a good knowledge of contemporary photographic buisness is critical as you need to have recognised the relevance and need for the buisness in terms of predicted feasability and a have a background or strong interest in photography. I think to start a buisness like this would you would have to know a quite a lot about buisness as Alexandre de metz and Paul Antoine Briat both studied law. The photographers who they have chosen to sell limited edition prints for, are renown for there photography and have a good fan base to sell these limited prints to. From looking at were the galleries are based around world you can see that this company means that there audience is more or less on a world wide scale and available for anyone to buy even from your finger tip which is pretty much the formation of there buisness. There website is there main avenue for custom but and wouldnt change anything about the design of the site, except i would of liked to of seen the pictures of the galleries in different countrys when you clicked on the country name. I would like to see one of these shops  up the north of england maybe Chester or Edinborough as i would see these area's as generally wealthy areas and people with a disposable income being able to access it without travelling to the other end of the country to look at the photo first and accessible to people all around the north of the country. From looking at the website and how many prints have sold out i think its safe to say this buisness works.

Alex Polizzi The Fixer Peachy Pics

Me and the rest of my class were shown an episode of The Fixer by Alex Polizzi, it is a programme were Alex helps buiness's that are not making any prophit and if they carry on the buisness will go bust. In this particular episode she is helping a family of four women who are trying to run a photography buisness. So when watching this episode i had to write down  problems they had with the business.

  1. No marketing experience
  2. Working as a family ( they say familiarity breeds content)
  3. Location of the shop
  4. No get up and go in them
  5. No dressing rooms for customers
  6. Under skilled/ no education and over staffed.
  7. Low motivation
  8. lack of communication
  9. Not pro active
  10. Lack of vision for business direction
  11. over staffed
  12. There image is ill conceived
  13. Business has no diversity

Also the brand name peachy pics is a big turn of and isn't very classy. Some of the tiny things i noticed when watching this episode that are not good for business for example sitting around in the shop waiting for work to come to them and major issue with lack of communication.
There is many ways that they could better this business for starters they could find out who in there staff has good marketing skills, setting up tents on enterprise days on, by being a better boss, presenting images that add value to their business, by doing more commercial shoots and not just sticking to portraits, changing the company name of the studio, some unique ideas for that business, were 40% of the sales are non portraits, by holding exhibitions every now and again, and a really big issue is to move out of the shopping centre with a cheaper place to renT, brand image consultation, increased creativity and up to date techniques.

So in our groups we did a theatrical cash flow forecast in the lesson and here is what we got.

                                         Buisness Idea

Company name Creative Roue

Rationale:

Our initial idea is to design an ultimately creative website / forum allowing a vast range of artistic people allowing them to communicate, make links and organise a range of work together. Many modelling websites allow a small sections of creative traits rather than giving a large mixture of expertise from photographers to audio technicians. We will be offering complete support from our 'behind the scenes' team who will ensure we keep the website slick and professional along with highly effective routines to make linking easier than its ever been.
We will base our newly developed website on two accounts. Amateurs and professionals, this will give freedom to the everyday creative individual along with giving a strong web space that professionals can use for portfolios, advertising and creative insight. In the future of our business we will consider looking into competitions to keep interest along with setting up enterprise days and events to create a larger reach and overall, our intentions. More creative links.
